Breaking Bad … Habits

document process automation platformsWe are in an age where you don’t have to turn to a life of crime in order to stop the madness of paper pushers in your organization!

Now, I do not watch this popular series, where the protagonist actually becomes the antagonist, but I have seen the benefits an organization achieves when turning away from paper pushers. You know the type, they use enough printed paper to start their own book.

Let’s face it, the Breaking Bad series is about a fundamental drive toward change. Which is what organizations need to do to become more efficient — change.

Like the series, Esker has seen immense global popularity where automation is concerned. More important than what we automate is why. Our mission is simple: we strengthen business relationships, improve the exchange of business-critical documents between organizations, and enhance our customers’ productivity by empowering people. The lesson we derive from the Breaking Bad series is that actions have consequences… and I feel that inaction to optimize manual processes has much worse repercussions.

The Bigger Picture

In the big picture of business processes there are two basic cycles: the order-to-cash (O2C) cycle of fulfilling customer orders and collecting payment, and the purchase-to-pay (P2P) cycle of buying the goods and services. Automated processing of cash conversion results in improved and more efficient business communications.

The core principle behind document process automation platforms is focusing on helping businesses Quit Paper™ to drive operational efficiencies, cost savings and process visibility. Automated solutions are designed to eliminate the huge amounts of paper flowing through O2C and P2C cycles — increasing speed and accuracy through document process automation helps businesses fulfill customer orders faster, get paid sooner, optimize financial management and maximize supply chain efficiency.

Breaking bad habits are the key to creating a truly unified and paperless environment.  Now, we may not have a spot on national TV, but we do have some strong achievements of our own.  This year, we won the Innovative P2P Technology of the Year Award by PayStream Advisors; were nominated for Best SaaS Product for ERP, Best SaaS Product for Business Accounting or Finance, and Best SaaS Product for Management Accounting or Budgeting; and were a finalist for the SIIA CODiE Awards in the Best Financial Management Mobile Application category.

In the world of Breaking Bad, good and bad are necessary choices for the future success of the characters — in the business world, the decision to automate your manual process is the one you need to make for the future of your business.
